Hey Jess,

When you have a moment can you upload the image for Feature 1, I'm not seeing it attached.

Thanks!

Hey Jess,

Can you take a quick look to confirm you have everything you need for the newsletter design?

Thanks!

Thanks MT! I'll load these in and review first thing on Monday.

In the meantime, we've had a slight change in plans for the Feature 2 article.

Can you edit this image to make it awesome and no more than 300px wide x 250px tall image:

Thanks!

Jess, here is the fox mascot image at 300x250.
Thanks Matt!

I just got a moment to load these in and had a few edits/suggestions to make them a little more cohesive in the newsletter:

* Any magic you can do to take off the shine on the phone in the OS fox mascot image?

* Can you make the Android a little taller and have the bottom? (It looks chopped off with the background - we can do a little taller for this story - no worries - just can't be wider than 125px)

* Take out the blue curtain background in the Flicks voting image? (The blue is bleeding a bit too much for my eyes)

* Anyway to make the wheel and reader icons a bit bigger and bolder (to match the size and boldness of the Stylish add-on)?

* Try a butterfly theme screenshot that doesn't chop a butterfly in half?

* Try the ultra-v4 to crop at the very right? (That way it doesn't look like something's crawling into the photo from the newsletter)

Let me know what you think and if this is doable to tweak by tomorrow sometime.

Thanks!

Jess

Hey Matt! Do you have time to finish these out today/tomorrow?
Hey Jen - I was just told that Matt's on PTO this week - can you help get these images finalized today/tomorrow please? Thanks!

Kristin - are there any brand/partner concerns with using this image?

Where are you using this image? It's not a great image. Are there better options?
Flags: needinfo?(kbaird)
Hey Jess,

Sorry, just getting back online. I'm going to check in with Ty and Lee to see if one of them can help make edits tomorrow. I'll let you know who will be helping out as soon as I hear back.

We were using this for our August Newsletter Firefox OS story since we've already used the current OS images in other email newsletters and announcements (fox sitting beside phone, fox pouncing in front of phone, fox sitting in front of phone).
Thanks for calling in backup Jennifer! And thanks in advance to Ty and/or Lee!

Let me know if we're looking good to round out these images today/tomorrow mid-day at the latest.

Kristin, keep us posted on the OS image and if you/the Creative team have a different option up your sleeve.

Here are the ones we've used in our July emails:

Jess,

Lee will be making the edits you requested, so I've reassigned the bug to him.

Sweet! Thanks!

Lee, let me know if you have any questions - thanks for your help!
Hi Jess! Here are some revised assets you can take a look at:
http://cl.ly/3O3C3j2n350g

Comments below:
- I created a new Firefox OS fox with phone image (it's the same pose that we used on the Thunderclap email, but it's different from our other email announcements)

- Android graphic was resized to 125x140 so I could get the whole phone in there

- I don't have the file for the Firefox Flicks graphic, so I couldn't edit the blue curtain. Maybe something MT can do when he returns, and we can drop in?

- Scaled up both the Reader and Smoothwheel add-ons as much as possible. Often times we're limited to the icons available out there... I found a larger Reader logo, but had to fudge the Smoothwheel one.

- Made both edits to the Themes graphics

Let me know if you have any questions! Lee
Thanks Lee! I'm taking a look now.
These look much better! Thanks Lee!

One last request: for the new OS image - can you crop off the tail and make it no more than 125 px wide?
Attached image 125x130_firefoxOS.png
Hmm... scaling it down to 125px from 300px wide is going to make the graphic pretty small. Here's one with the flame on the right side of the phone, cropped.

One last request: for the new OS image - can you crop off the tail and make it no more than 125 px wide?
Sweet - that looks much better in the newsletter. The shine on the phone looks a little funny with the image cropped as it is - what do you think about taking off that highlight?

Also, if you'd like to squeeze a few more pixels in on either side, you don't have to have any white space :) (We have that built into the template itself).

On a related note - please take a look at the attached screenshot. Does it look funny to you that our OS phone is smaller than the generic Android phone for the Android story? Do you think you could re-size the Android image so that the phones are more similar in size?
Attached image 125x130_android_02.png
Hey Jess, thanks for sending the mockup of the page - In general, it really helps us get a sense of the context in relation to the copy and other corresponding graphics etc. I really didn't know how those graphics would appear before seeing them side by side. That said, I scaled them relative to each other (more similar in size now), but I think we should use the Firefox OS graphic with the fox standing next to the phone - that way we don't crop off any of the flame at all, which looks weird if it's a standalone graphic IMO.

I'll post the new Firefox OS image below...
FYI - the dimensions for both this Firefox OS image and the Android one are, 125x140 (not 130, as the file names suggest!)
Thanks Lee - my only concern with the new image is that it's almost identical to the image we used last month:

http://image.e.mozilla.org/lib/fe9915707361037e75/m/1/OSfox.png

Any other ideas?
I know variety is the spice of life, but in this case I think it's OK to repeat the fox pose. These are official brand illustrations that should all represent Firefox OS equally. Perhaps it's different enough that we're using the green home screen with apps VS. the blue wallpaper screen?

The other option I'd suggest is if we're not tied to using the same dimensions for both assets - something more horizontal would allow us to use the first image I prepared, without cropping off the fire/tail. We'd just need to format re-compose the block of copy
Cool deal - I gave it a fresh look today and this new image works well. Thanks, Lee!

Jennifer - can you make sure that Matt sees the outstanding Flicks image edits when he's back on Monday?

* Take out the blue curtain background in the Flicks voting image? (The blue is bleeding a bit too much for my eyes)

woohoo!
Hey Jess,

Will do.
Attached image feature4 (obsolete) —
Hi Jess, I've attached an updated Flicks Feature 4 image without a blue background...is this what you had in mind?

Thanks Lee for filling in while I was away!
Attachment #781154 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Attached image screenshot
Thanks Matt! This is looking better, but the hand looks oddly square and chopped off now - see attached screenshot.

Do you have an idea to make it not so chopped?
Hey Jess, the original graphic was meant to have a monochromatic look for the less important elements, so that the vote card would be the focal point. I actually think it lacks a bit with out the contained look of the blue background. I guess another option would be to remove the hand completely which would open things up. Let me know what you think.
Hey Matt, that makes sense. I think removing the hand completely sounds good. And if you'd like, you can also add in the rest of the voting box? That way it's a little taller?
Attached image feature4 (obsolete) —
Jess, I've removed the hand and increased the box size, but also have included a light background to allow for the vote card to read a clearer.
Attachment #785824 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Thanks Matt! I like it sans hand, but the blue background doesn't match the style of the other images that aren't square/have a background color.

Can you try taking out the blue background, and make the vote paper orange and the "VOTE" text white? If you need it to stand out more fromt eh white background, maybe you can make a grey fuzzy outline/background that surrounds just the image (not the whole box)?
Attached image feature4
I like the orange card idea...
Attachment #786061 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Perfect! \o/

That looks soo good. :)

Thanks Matt!
